                                                         The Last Supper

The Last Supper is one of the famous paintings of  15th century. This painting was initiated in 1482 and it was instituted after 18 years by painter Leonardo di Ser Piero da Vinci in Milan for both his patron and duchess. This oil painting canvas depicts the scene of last supper which is narrated in John's Gospel as the last dinner Lord Jesus had with its twelve apostles and he made an announcement that one of them will betray him before sunrise. This painting grandly measures 15 x 29 feet and it depicts the dinning hall's back wall at Santa Maria delle Grazie monastery in Milan, Italy. The theme of this painting is truly a traditional one and the room was not essentially a refectory when he painted it.  Painter has elegantly made use of dry plaster and given it a spectacular whirl. A different palette was presented here. The only drawback of the painting was its durability and since then people have being trying hard to restore it.  In this oil painting canvas, there are two essential compositions that are invariably remarkable. Initially, the disciples are displayed as the true humans but with emotions that are not easily identifiable. With reaction to announcement of Jesus they are shown with multiple and different feelings; horror, anger and last but not least shock. However, amidst this storm of emotions Jesus is shown very calm and peaceful.Secondly, from technical point of view the perspective is amazing. There is a unit element in this painting which directs viewer's focus exactly upon the composition's midpoint and that is the head of Lord Christ. All the famous paintings of this genuine painter are incorporated with unique hidden theories which need to be deeply analyzed.
